What are the ingredients in Ddrops®?
All of our Ddrops® vitamin D products are made with only two high-quality ingredients.
The base for all of our liquid vitamin D supplements is fractionated coconut oil (that has been removed from the proteins and potential allergens). The only other ingredient is high-grade vitamin D.
The vitamin D found in all of our products (with the exception of Vegan Ddrops) is D3, which begins as lanolin. Our Vegan Ddrops are made with vitamin D2.
Are Ddrops® considered all-natural?
This is a tricky question to answer! According to strict guidelines from Health Canada, food or ingredient of food that is represented as natural is expected “not to have any constituent or fraction thereof removed or significantly changed, except the removal of water”. Let’s look at the example: the removal of caffeine. Once a product has gone through a manufacturing step that has significantly changed the chemistry of the original product it is not considered to be “natural”. Some food additives, or vitamins and mineral nutrients may start out from a natural source. Some of these additives may be regarded as natural ingredients, and some manufacturers describe a product or food as containing “natural ingredients”.
According to these guidelines, it is reasonable to say Ddrops® vitamin D3 is derived from natural sources. The coconut oil in Ddrops® is fractionated, so technically it cannot be considered “natural”. The purified coconut oil was chosen as an important component because it has an extremely long shelf life, stability, as well as rancidity-resistant properties. Ddrops® products do not require any preservatives. In addition, all of our Ddrops® products do not contain the most common allergens and are free from corn, dairy, eggs, fish, gluten, lactose, peanuts, shellfish, wheat, yeast, preservatives, artificial coloring, and/or flavor. This is why we love our fractionated oil – just the way it is!
Ultimately, our Ddrops® products are not “all-natural,” but do contain natural ingredients derived from natural sources.
